Introduction to Homeownership Class

In this class, participants will determine whether or not homeownership is an appropriate next step for them. This class is available as a Zoom webinar, in person, and online self-paced module. Classes are available in any language by request. This course certificate satisfies requirements for MSHDA Home Loan Program, Housing Choice Voucher, and Habitat for Humanity education.

  • Credit and budgeting
  • Choosing the right home
  • Fair housing
  • Purchase and closing processes

Register and Pay with Eventbrite

Upcoming class dates are listed below. Classes have limited availability and registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration closes 48 hours before the first session or when at capacity. The registration fee is $20 per person; $5 for one additional household member. All class registrations and fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Fees may be waived with proof of hardship; contact ICCF to inquire.

Turn in Paperwork

Complete the Education Intake Packet with DocuSign. Leave “Client 2” blank if you do not have a co-borrower. If you need a paper copy, contact ICCF.

Take the Class

Participate in the class, either by meeting in person or via zoom depending on the class date(s) you registered for. You must be in attendance for both sessions to receive your certificate. The Zoom link will be sent to participants over email a few days prior to the class start date and can be accessed from a phone or computer. The in person class will be held at 400 Martin Luther King Jr St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49507. Participants who are more than 30 minutes late OR miss one part of a two-part class will not be awarded certification and must register for the next available class and pay the full fees.

Register for Class

Once paperwork is received, ICCF will provide you with a link to register for the class. The registration fee is $75 per household. All fees are non-refundable. Fees may be waived with proof of hardship; contact ICCF to inquire.

Take the Class

Complete the self-paced online curriculum on your phone, tablet, or computer.

Follow Up

Discuss any questions from the class with an ICCF staff member. After this 30-minute phone call, ICCF will email the participant a completion certificate.
