Homebuyer Education: Preparation, Process, and Best Practices
In Homebuyer Education you’ll learn an overview of the homebuying process, how to prepare
financially to purchase a home, the general process, and the best practices for homebuyers.
Classes are offered in-person or online.
We’ll discuss: homeownership considerations, credit and budgeting, mortgage lending,
choosing the right home, fair housing rights, purchase and closing processes
This HUD-approved course certificate satisfies education requirements for:
- MSHDA Home Loan Programs
- Housing Choice Voucher homeownership program (Section 8)
- Affordable Homeownership programs (Linc-up, Dwelling Place, Habitat Kent)
- Bank-associated homebuyer loans and grants
Classes are available with interpretation in other languages – Please contact us to request!

Tuesday/Thursday Classes
Both days are required to complete the class. Check class date for specific times.

How to Register
Register and Pay
Click on the date of the class you’d like to open the Eventbrite registration page. If you’re not able to register or pay online, please let us know. Spots are first-come, first-served.
Registration is $20 per person; $5 for one additional household member. All class registrations and fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Turn in Paperwork
Complete the Education class paperwork with DocuSign. Leave “Client 2” blank if you do not have a co-borrower. If you'd like a paper copy, please let us know.

Participate in the class you registered for. You must attend the full class to receive your certificate. If you miss more than 30 minutes, you will not be awarded a certificate and must register and pay for another available class. We will send out certificates following completion.
Online Course
Framework Online Curriculum
Learn about the homebuying process online at your own pace! Register for this online, self-paced course through Framework. Learners explore the content through written and video modules and knowledge checks after each section.
How to Register
Complete the Education Class Packet

After paperwork is completed, email [email protected] to let us know you’d like to take the self-paced course.
Register and Complete the Course
Once we receive your paperwork, we’ll email you a link to register for the course. The registration fee is $75 per household, charged by Framework. All fees are non-refundable. If the fee is a hardship for you, contact us to request a waiver.
Complete the self-paced online curriculum on your phone, tablet, or computer.
Advising Session & Certificate
• Email [email protected] to request an advising session. This is a 15-minute phone call with a housing counselor.
• We’ll email you a scheduling link to schedule the phone call.
• Talk with the housing counselor about any questions from the course and your next steps.
• Following the call, the housing counselor will email the certificate of completion.
