Making Home Ownership Happen
Once an individual or family has completed ICCF’s Introduction to Homeownership class, they have the opportunity to meet with our counselors to discuss personal barriers that may prevent them from homeownership. We’ll work together to dispute errors on credit reports and negotiate settlement balances with creditors. We’ll also review payment and mortgage options.
Individual counseling sessions are available to those who have been pre-approved for down payment assistance or loan products requiring homeownership education. Each session lasts up to three hours. Counselors will examine details of the loan to ensure it’s the client’s best option. They’ll also review client finances, home maintenance skills, and family management techniques to prepare clients for home ownership.
A certificate of completion is given at the end of the counseling session that meets the requirements of many loan products and down payment assistance programs.
