John Swanson ~ Seeing the Sacred in the Ordinary

This new exhibit opened June 14th 2010. It is an exhibit of serigraphs by John August Swanson, an artist with Swedish/Mexican ancestry. Swanson is an ardent Roman Catholic whose work has a strong social justice component.

~ Beyond Our Blind side ... an Extraordinary Journey ~

Remember that great Oscar-winning movie, The Blind Side?  The real life parents behind that movie story, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, are coming to Grand Rapids! On October 19 they will be the guest speakers at DeVos Place for Beyond Our Blind Side …an Extraordinary Journey, an ICCF benefit event, 6:30pm - 8:30pm. 

The Tuohys have written a book, In a Heartbeat: Sharing the Power of Cheerful Giving which was released July 13.  In the book the Tuohys share the story of Michael Oher and of their family in their own words.

There is a strong connection between the values of ICCF and the values of the Tuohy family, and we know their presentation will be inspirational.  Their visibility with the movie, the book, and Leigh Anne’s appearances on Extreme Home Makeover will help to draw a large audience.  Anticipating that, we reserved a venue that will seat 800 people.  We are looking for table sponsors and individual ticket sales.
